Hi folks! I wanted to give you all hope! Three years ago I was floxed by taking 3 pills of Cipro. I was in a very dark place and didn’t think I would ever recover. I was depress, in pain, couldn’t workout, couldn’t sleep, it was pure torture. I would read stories of people that would recover and I wouldn’t think I would. I got good news I am 90% recovered today. I am lifting weights again and I have been taking martial arts. I’m starting to feel like myself again and my life is getting back to normal. For all those who are out there it took about 2 years for me to start feeling better and I have been making great improvements. Don’t give up hope. Feel free to message me if you want some encouragement. I’ve been in the storm and God has brought me out. God bless!

Charleton! Thanks so much for taking the time to share with us. As you know all too well, this is a brutal journey. Like you, it is hard to imagine that I will get out of this and be close to my old self.
Could you share some of your symptoms with us? I find it helpful knowing what symptoms people had.
Thank you,
Shawn
I’m sorry for your suffering, but thank you for being so encouraging.
May God bless you with a complete recovery –
So good to hear! Two years seems about average for many that do recover. So I have a ways to go! Charleton, what therapy did you do? If any?
Thanks, guys. I see his whole story now.
Shawn
Hey Charles ! Great to hear you are doing so much better and thank you for posting your story. Stories like your’s are really the only thing that will keep my hopes up. I was wondering if you experienced any cracking and crunching of your joints or tendons? And if so, if that went away as well?!? To me, its one of my worst symptoms, as every joint cracks and pops whenever I move or stretch. It’s really terryfying me. I also have pain but its this feeling that my entire body is falling apart that makes this all so much worse. So I wonder if you experienced anything like that and if it has gotten better eventually. Anyways, thanks for posting your story ! I hope I will be able to do so sometimes soon as well !
Sorry for misspelling your name Charleton, I slipped a few lines and thought it was Charles Tooraen’s story I just read :p
Hi Phil,
I hope you doing well,
Did your popping/cracking get better?
Charleton, so glad to hear that you are finally getting some healing. Did you take magnesium? You may find it will help, even at this late date. I believe FQ’s make us magnesium deficient and that this deficiency is not revealed through the testing currently in use.
I took just a few more pills than you did and had a similar reaction, with some minor tendon damage, muscle weakness, floaters– a lot of what you described. I am pretty close to 100% healing at less than six months out, so anyone reading this should know that it doesn’t always take years. It can, but faster healing is sometimes possible.
I thought I was about done healing, that I was just stuck, because I wasn’t getting worse, but I wasn’t getting better and I could do just about everything that I did before, so I could live with it. But I’m suddenly getting even better. I think you will too. I hiked an entire bluff in Baraboo on Monday and I wasn’t sore at all on Tuesday. Not at all. The first time I tried that I could do it but I hurt really bad for about a week in a way that just wasn’t normal for me. I figured increased pain would just be the price I’d pay for being active for the rest of my life. But I guess not.
There is such joy in being able to do things you thought you never would again– a thankfulness to God. I feel that I didn’t properly appreciate all I had before Cipro.
Encouraging story that gives hope.
Hi Ruth, I am a cipro survivor. Is there a way to contact you?
Richard,
I am on Facebook so you can find me there and we can communicate through Messenger. My profile pic is currently of me standing on a bridge wearing a T-shirt and baggy pants. My shared photos are all nature pics. You should be able to find the right person with that info. Just friend me or message me or both.
I communicate with quite a few floxies. Just remember that I am not a doctor. My medical training is limited to physical therapist assistant training and they are not trained to diagnose. I don’t have a heavy science background at all. All I have is some rudimentary knowledge of human biology and my experiences to go on. What worked for me could hurt someone else. There are so many unknowns. I’m glad to chat and offer moral support, but it’s not the same as medical advice.
Ruth
Is Charleton replying here?
Would love to get in contact and talk about what he did to get better…
Mark
Mark,
I messaged him on FB and he did reply. He didn’t go into recovery strategies, but I didn’t ask him what he did.
Shawn
Thanks Shawn.
I don’t have fb…
Mark
Mark, I sent you both Charleton’s and Zachary’s FB profiles. I don’t have their email addresses. Sorry! I’ll shoot them each a note asking them to email you if you don’t want to join facebook. Will you please let me know if you want to reach out to them through FB or if you want me to send them your email address? Thanks.
hey Lisa, could you possibly send me charelton’s contact or FB info to my email? phantomdavid02@aol.com ? i really could use his opinion. Thank you
Mark,
I didn’t get the sense that Charleton has done anything in particular. He told me he started feeling better at two years out. Up until then he had lots of pain.
Shawn.
Hi SM,
Did you recovered?
And what symptoms charleton had that recovered as you messaged him.
Thank you
Hello—
I was out on two round of Levaquin and have been experiencing a lot of pain. I discontinued the second round due to the pain but seem to be getting worse.
I’m trying to get in to see my GP but have had no luck.
Is there a way that they can test to see if it is Floxie? Thank you
Great that you recovered.
Am curious how long it took you to get back to sleeping as my sleeping habits have been badly dented by Cipro (took 5 tablets over 2.5 days)..
Thanks in anticipation…
Richard
