Hi Lisa. It has been a while. I am sorry to hear that you are still having problems. I too am still progressing with Statin Induced Mitochondrial Myopathy. The pain and weakness is almost to much. I still use xylitol for quick relief but it is short lived. I am glad to see that you have had some success with your fight. I have had no luck with mine. They just say that I am one of the worst cases they have ever seen. Keep up the fight and I hope you the best. Lee Morey in Colorado

Oh, the irony of meeting a doctor, pharmaceutical rep and two victims of antibiotic-induced toxicity at your workplace, all in a single day. lol
Agreed L,
My accupuncturist has helped victims of FQ before, no matter what I’m experiencing or afraid of….she understands completely and is well aware of their damage. Same goes for my ND. It seems “doctors” are more than just brainwashed, it’s like a cult they are in. Most will stand by FQ’s and pharmaceuticals until the bloody end….denying everything even IF proof is there. It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever experienced , unfortunately 🙁

All,
Came back from lab work that was sent in a week ago and it is superb considering the deficiencies noted about 6 weeks ago.
I have been using (Glutamine and Creatine) to help reduce muscle loss and heal my GI issue which I think was causing malabsorption. (I say this because Gut samples all came back clean 6 weeks ago). Also daily table spoon of Gluthonine and wheatgrass, and of course fresh veggies and organic meats when I can.
– I still have issues, but I used Cipro in Feb of this year and to see some relief is amazing. Thanks to all the wonderful people on here, I will keep posting with any new findings that may have helped me and I plan to post my full story here someday. But in the last 6 weeks ( protein intake 1g per body weight and 5g of Creatine and glutamine has really helped. Muscles feel fuller and stronger and I have made an effort to walk bike, lift what I can of which ever body part isn’t hurting. I forgot who’s story it was that pushed my mind in this direction but it has helped. Feed your body

Hi Carol, I also had my latest floxing in Feb. this year. I agree with Bob & L. We are on the same program & I just had a glutathione push with mag. and other supplements today. They really are helpful.
I know you are scared, we have all been there and I also have had friends & family who do not understand! The doctor who gave it to you does not understand so there you go!
Just hang in there and know we are all here for you. It will get better, I promise!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! This is the most disturbing thing I have read in a while: “Breaking news: We just found out that Bayer is definitely moving forward on its plans to buy Monsanto.
If Bayer succeeds, we are facing a giant, international mega-corporation with total control over nearly everything we eat: the biggest seed company and pesticide company all rolled into one.
This would spell disaster for our bees and vulnerable farmers. It’ll usher in a new era of sterile crops soaked in cancer-causing pesticides.
The good news though it seems more people are supporting organic farmers and food. I think the public is much more informed about GMO’s too….. although I think this is a huge health crisis and yet another example of corporations stripping away our rights and our lives. I hope enough people stand together to not allow this to happen!

Got results back from thyroid test (full panel) all good. My testosterone level was low. I am starting, in small amounts, P6 testosterone booster, HMB, Beta Alanine and creatine to try and stop muscle waste and hopefully rebuild some muscle. Stay tuned!!!!
Lisa B, or anyone who knows about “safe” antibiotics post flox. For about a week now have been battling a uti that is now presenting as a kidney infection. ER doctor yesterday suggested macrobid, then bactrim….and of course I refused those. I’m currently back on amoxicilin ( was on it a couple weeks ago for strep ) but it seems like it’s not working at all. I’m in lots of pain in my midsection, awaiting for my culture to come back tomorrow. Since I’m already on amoxicillin….are cephalasporin my last option?? That might not even work, depending on the strain of bacteria; (
I’m so upset…..physically I was recovering well….now I’m terrified of getting refloxed from another antibiotic:(
Any advise is helpful. Thanks!

Lisa, thank you for your recent update on your recovery. You mentioned that though you were physically recovered after several years, you then dealt with emotional issues, fear and anger, which you have worked through.
I am new to this site. I was floxed almost a year ago, cipro, 500mg, 2x a day for seven days because of a uti. I still have many symptoms, metallic taste, numbness on mouth as well as feet, tingling in feet and calves, stabbing pain in toes, etc. brain fog and disorientation-all to a lesser degree now. I think I do have peripheral neuropathy.
However, I have had a lot of anger…as well as anxiety. The anger got so bad I still can not speak to friends on the phone for more than 3-4 minutes without becoming mad. It just comes up. I know I have ocd and am talking antidepressants for it, but this is nuts! Have you or anyone else had irrational anger from the antibiotics? I left my job and am afraid of working with others because of this.
Also, has anyone here had experience with suing Bayer, etc, as there are 2 black box labels on cipro? I have had a preliminary discussion with a law firm this week. Sorry for long post but grateful for any feedback. Thanks!

Hi everyone. As you may already know,a few weeks ago I took a blood test as a follow up to one I took a few months back which showed my calcium level to be eleven.I did not receive a call back from the doctors office, so I called them for the results. They said everything was normal.Unsatisfied and untrusting(Shame we have to be this way with Doctors)I got in my car and drove there and asked for a copy of the lab results.
Calcium. 10.3
Calcium,Serum 10.2
PTH 42in1
According to this Laboratory everything is in range.
I’m 43 years old.
Any opinions?
Hope everyone gets some relief this weekend.
Peace and Love,
-Frank
Well, I’m confused.
I still have flank pain, but my urine came back normal. No more blood, leukocytes, or proteins. They did send it out for a culture, but doctor think it will come back negative.
I’m trying to get in for accupuncture tmrw if possible. ….
Is it still possible to have a kidney infection with no sign of infection???. It doesnt seem likely
Hi Catherine,
I’m not super familiar w essential oils for infections, but I did use lemon oil when I first came down w uti symptoms. It helped a lot in the initial stages.
I can say that a few select essential oils have reduced neurapothy pain greatly 🙂

Has anyone here tried Pterostilbene? It’s supposedly the more bio available version of Resveratrol and has shown some promise in helping to repair mitocondria. The reason I ask you all this is that I was doing some research on it today when I decided to look at the most popular brand sold through amazon (The Jarrow version…I added the link to it below in case you want to check it out). Here’s the thing, in examining the customer reviews, there was a positive one (posted today) from an actual floxie. Here’s what they said:
“I was taking another supplement at the same time I started this. I thought all the excellent changes I was seeing were from the much more expensive supplement for mitochondrial damage. I ran out of the other but continued taking Pterostilbene by Jarrow and I was wrong. I had Levaquin in 2009 and it almost killed me. I still haven’t worked since. This is the only thing that has made a huge difference in my life. I have severe muscle, tendon and ligament damage and for years I have had to live with no energy and much pain. I’ve been taking this for two months and I’m so surprised and joyous to say I am seeing great improvements. I have less pain and more energy and for the first time in 6 years I can go out and work in my flower garden and not start feeling so hot, miserable and in great pain. This is such an astonishing thing but that’s not all. I have had so many health issues and slowly I see myself getting better by the week. I’ll update after a few more months.
I highly recommend you try this if you have cell damage.”
I’m thinking about trying it myself, but I’d love to hear from others who may have already done so (especially those who have GI problems with other supplement). Anyway, I hope this helps someone.
Hi Frank B
I’m sorry about your reaction with Bactrim! Did you recover from that???
I wish there was more info available about floxies and which antibiotics/ medication they can “safely ” take. I guess we are all different, some more severly floxed than others so everybody reacts differently. Last year I was on Keflex for about a day….and that flared my nerves a lot! Luckily that stopped as soon as it was out of my system….

Has anyone ever had blurred vision from this? My eyes can’t focus very good now, in the mornings it takes like an hour before I can see good.
