Hello Everyone,
I really wish I found this site years ago..
I have had tingling and tighness in my lower legs and feet for the last 5 years. It all started after I was given a course of Cipro after an appendectomy..
I have been to so many doctors over the years any have told them my story and no one could give me any answers!
Has anyone here had symptoms for over 5 years? And does anyone’s flare up from time to time?
” … at a cellular level … without inflammation….microtears in the connective tissue in and around the tendon…. increasing the chance of tendon rupture.
Tendinosis is often misdiagnosed as tendinitis due to the limited understanding of tendinopathies by the medical community”
I never had tendon rupture in these post-flox days, but I feel like some lesions happen from time to time. It seems like this “Tendinosis”
cheers

Does anyone know how can we confirm that we have FQ poisoning?
Are there any tests available to confirm?
I live in Australia btw
you are really positive and that’s what i really like about you, you are the “male version of Lisa” hehe. i move on slowly because of you guys encouragement and cheers. healing takes time and it can take a long time. the boat has sank, we just have to swim slowly to the shore and get our life back gradually .
i did try my best to see light with every bitterness.
I read your post on MSN. yes i took MSN (tumeric added) from USANA. it’s called Procasa. my tcm doctor highly recommend it. in fact, she asked me to increase dosage from 2 2x a day to 3 2x a day.
Bo, your feet pain is located at the base of your feet, felt like plantar fascia?
Earlier my leg pain is at my heel/ankle mostly but now it travel to the base of my feet so making walking difficult. can i know if it has been better for you?
my 2 biggest issue is wrist pain and feet pain.
Yesterday it’s worst i can’t even want to walk . each step that land my feet on the ground is just terrible. i went home did some KT taping to compress in order to do some stuff around temporarily before resting. on the same night, i went to see my acupuncturist and cried to her. my acupuncturist said it’s nerve transmission. when one section is healed, the pain passed down..like dominic effect…she told me if we heal our nerve ending e.g. wrist, base of foot, we are pretty much done healing. however healing base of foot is the biggest challenge due to it’s weakest blood circulation and nutrient hard to reach. so acupuncture at ankle trigger point can stimulate healing. still long way..i am hoping we all recover soon.
when the shoulder, wrist pain hit, it really felt like something is tearing. my right side is hit the hardest. left side is pretty safe with occasional pain but nothing to worry.
question is pain from nerve can feel like tendon, muscle pain . how do we differentiate? very tricky. it feels like tearing or even rupture? nope..if rupture it’s instant admission to hospital..
how i know it’s nerve pain is after my acupuncture session, for a few times my right wrist pain is gone but my left wrist started hurting! like a day. then next day, right side pain resume. i asked my tcm why.she said blood flow..or “QI” (energy block) so when one side is unblock, it congest to other side. so i deduct that’s nerve pain.
just have a thought. perhaps we can use healing spices/herb and wrap around affected tendon? you hear story about how you can wrap cut onion at feet to cure flu? left overnight while you sleep. wake up, flu gone! (or left a bowl of cut onion next to your bed works the same i heard) yes it’s natural healing.
leads me to think….turmeric heals inflammation. why not buy turmeric powder , sprinkle over tendons, wrap over night and see if it works?
http://www.mesopinions.com/petition/sante/soutien-aux-prs-debre-denoncent-corruption/11720 Here are two experienced physicians in France. They’ve been banned from practising for a year because they’ve written a book called (in translation) “4,000 medicines that are useful, useless or dangerous,” which reviews the drug-prescribing madness and the irresponsibility and corruption in the profession. (It’s a petition, so you can sign if you feel like it, but I’m posting it to show you why few doctors think independently or dare to speak up.

Hi Ben,
I was wondering if you could please update us on your experience with the Low Dose Naltrexone? Any improvements?
Thanks!

I was prescribed 10 pills of Avelox in late December early January for a couple of infections. I feel upset/depressed because I actually looked up Avelox side effects before I took it – I thought they were probably overblown and it would never happen to me. I went for a couple of 5k runs a few weeks ago and my knees are in absolutely horrible shape. I couldn’t bend my left knee for 2 weeks afterwards and now my right knee is starting to hurt. I’m sure this is related to fluoroquinolones. I’ve never had a joint problem in my life, and other joints – elbow, wrist are noticeably sore too. It’s nice to know that other people have dealt with this and overcome it. I have no doubt that I’ll heal eventually. I’m hoping to walk, swim, bike this summer, and maybe run again next summer. I started taking fish oil and a joint supplement and recently added magnesium. I wish everyone a speedy recovery!
I enjoy your candid writing. one thing i always like to ask you, if there is no “cure” for floxing or no way to detox quiolone,
what should we do exactly?
wait…? of course it’s totally good for one to self rescue by taking supplement if it doesn’t help fix floxing, it can surely help with other issue that might help reduce side effect of floxing. or help our body optimize the mode of self healing.
i remember you mentioned sometime back you used homeopathy to help and said you will share your “prescription” if you have the time.
do you think you can share some of your successful homeopathy with floxies dealing with neuropathy or tendon pain?
When the cipro hit I was surprised at how fast my reaction was compared to others. Well it just so happens that for ~6 months before I was eating high quantities of shrimp… all imported from vietnam of course. I still have some in my freezer. D’oh!
In Singapore, it’s quite uncommon to see naturopathy doctor. I found online there is one from Germany who practiced this skill here. First hour is SIN $200, about $200 USD. subsequent 1/2 hr is SIN $180.
Here, it’s not about money. if he is good and can help, of course i am more than willing to pay. seriously i am not sure how he can help floxie?

my main issue is peripheral neuropathy (hand and feet pain), this area is currently under treatment by my TCM doctor using acupuncture and chinese herb. and USANA supplement
i don’t have neuro problem, can sleep, eat and think like normal, haha
the only problem is nerve problem or neuropathy or so they speak..
any advise or opinion to seeing naturopathy? how much can they help?
Thanks for getting back. Thanks for telling me there is hope! 🙂 Please rest your eyes well 🙂
Wow..how should i begin. i face palm when i read your question haha
ok, my tcm doctor said it’s peripheral neuropathy because
1. over time, there is shift in numbness and pain. my right side is hit the hardest. it started with right shoulder pain then it somewhat resolved but it went down to arm and focus most on wrist pain. after a few acupuncture session, the same pain move to left and hit left for a few days before moving to right (the base of evil….)
2. feet is the utmost hardest to heal according to her. it has the weakest blood circulation and nutrient hard to reach. and our whole body press force on our feet as we walk making treatment more challenging…when our body is attacked with cipro, it’s the nerve ending that affected the hardest and the poison resides in both extreme end of nerve – wrist and feet.
also, when cipro attack, the pain (also felt like tendon, nerve pain, urgh..how both tendon and nerve pain can get confusing right) started at achilles heel then it resolve to a comfortably point but the pain now migrate to the base of foot…..
she believe cipro can reside in cell for a long time and pain might not be a bad sign , it can mean detoxification as our body is throwing out the bad stuff and is working hard to heal so long we take mega antioxidant and minerals to detox and heal (continue this cycle..)
according to chinese medicine, these are clear signs of peripheral neuropathy as cipro attack and pass the pain to surrounding nerve .
also she believe acupuncture warm up the nerve fibre so that nutrients, supplement can go to heal the damaged nerve in optimal condition.
treatment plan :acupuncture + chinese herbs + usana supplement
how can we test for connective tissue damage? are there tests to show? many times i heard floxie say scan/test turned up nothing yet pain persists…so that’s why i am holding back any test for now and heal myself the holistic way.
maybe you are right, it’s tissue that’s damaged. when i use my wrist to type for long or doing simple house work like mopping , vaccuming floor..my arm starts to numb and pain like crazy

In 2006, I was given Cipro for 11 weeks with booster doses at the end, all to treat a U.T.I. and a post surgery infection Citrobacter Koseri.
My life was completely ruined for 5 years with all of the symptoms mentioned, pain, tinnitus, eye floaters, burning, involuntary joint movements, and crawling under the skin.
I had to retire early and it was only in year 6 that I noticed an improvement. I still get stabbing pains in the feet and burning in the leg, also interrupted heartbeat on and off.
Just do not give up hope, and do not spend on useless cures, they do not work. You will get better, my life is gradually returning to normal.

I should have said that here in the U.K. it is listed under peripheral neuropathy.
I have a question. Do any of you kno why I have quite severe pain under the nails of my big toes? It’s nothing like gout – that’s in the joint. It feels as though my big-toe nail is pressing onto my toe really hard and, if I kneel with my feet under me, so that I’m pressing on the toes, that hurts. It’s not bad enough to be a problem and is only occasional, but I’m curious to know the explanation.

Hi guys
I read this and it seems to be what I (we) are having :

Hey again Lisa,
I was taking a break but ended up looking up foods for antibiotic contamination, and I found this: http://www.shrimpalliance.com/news-alert-fda-adds-two-vietnamese-shrimp-exporters-to-import-alert-for-antibiotic-contamination/ “The presence of fluoroquinolones, including enrofloxacin, continues to plague Vietnamese seafood exports”
When the cipro hit I was surprised at how fast my reaction was compared to others. Well it just so happens that for ~6 months before I was eating high quantities of shrimp… all imported from vietnam of course. I still have some in my freezer. D’oh!
Just a “funny” story.
