I am 35 years old as of this writing, all my life i had a quite active lifestyle indulging myself in sports like badminton, swimming, jogging and outdoor activities like trekking etc. I do not remember being ill anytime apart from occasional sinusitis and other common seasonal ailments,  But all that was about to change in end of November 2016. I had severe gastroenteritis due to amoebic infection. I was traveling at the time and couldn’t visit a doctor . I called up a friend who is a  physician who advised me take ciplox tz for 5 days after listening to my symptoms. After 5 days i recovered. I was least expecting what i was about to experience few months later.

It was around 2 months later that i first started to experience weird symptoms that i never had before. It all started with with my feet and hands feeling tingly with sensation of pins and needles when i woke up. I did not pay much attention to it for a few weeks. I thought it was probably due to my sleeping style causing some circulation issues. A few weeks later a noticed that my left knee started to hurt for no apparent reason. I had not injured myself in any way for it to hurt so bad that i couldn’t even climb stairs. I visited orthopedic who identified swelling in the knee. He repeatedly kept asking me if i had injured myself. Unconvinced by my responses he said said i had Patellar Tendonitis and put me on Chondrotin,Collagen peptide,Bromelain supplements for a 2 month and asked me to rest for few weeks. Meanwhile my other symptoms continued unabated. Apart from my tingling in my feet and hands i started to get cramps in my finger. Over period of next weeks had other problems like seeing rings of light at corner of my eyes when i slept,  difficulty swallowing, feeling the room was too bright, difficulty concentrating , feeling tired all the time. Finally i started having unexplained panic attacks, some which completed drained me to an extent that i couldn’t stand up  This is when it occurred to me something is not right.

I made an appointment with neurologist who did an MRI, Nerve conductivity study and blood tests. All the reports were fine and he concluded i had Fibromyalgia. Visits to ophthalmologist also yielded nothing. Next up cardiologists TMT, 2D echo, ECG also yielded nothing. Finally all doctors concluded i should be referred to a psychiatrist as its probably my anxiety which is causing these symptoms. I was unconvinced that these problems were totally due to anxiety. Why would they all happen at same time ? Everyone has some level of anxiety, i didn’t see other anxious people having these problems to such a debilitating extent.  I was never really anxious person,

With no other option left i did consult a psychiatrist who put me on SSRI’s and TCA’s for my neuropathic pain. Still adamant that the problems were not due to my anxiety i started researching on my symptoms. During many Google searches of my symptoms i would frequently come across blogs of people with similar stories. There were many references to fibromyalgia, but I never really made the connection with the antibiotic Ciproflaxin till visited Floxiehope. It was like a eureka moment , finally the pieces of the puzzle started to come together. I also stumbled upon FDA black box warning of the drug on their website which listed all of the side effects which were happening to me. I also realized i have had this antibiotic many times earlier for my sinusitis but didn’t have such side effects.

I finally decided to confront the doctors with me new found evidence. I wasn’t surprised they laughed at me. They said this antibiotics is prescribed for months   to patients and no one ever has complained about it. They asked me to stop being a hypochondriac!!. Coincidentally to my rescue there were articles in local newspapers about the recent changes in FDA black box warnings in 2018. After overwhelming evidences few doctors did agree there is a possibility that symptoms could be due to ciproflaxin, but they also assured me body has ability heal itself at your age and the problems will gradually resolve.

Through 2017 and good part of 2018 i was on SSRI and TCA. It has been over a year and half now after coming out of medication for neuropathic pain, I mostly symptom free now .I am able play few sports which are not too demanding on the knees. I keep having minor flareups of my tendonitis but nothing that keeps me off my daily routine.

During this entire journey, i continued to have healthy food, along with Seacod Capsules, Spirulina, Multivitamin-multimineral supplements. Most important of all the many recovery stories at Floxiehope, multiple assurances from doctors and my family, the excellent guidance from Joseph Murphy book – Power of subconscious mind have helped me through this difficult time.
