I was floxed 5 yrs ago, still having issues. My doctor never acknowledged what Cipro did to me, but didn’t deny it either. He suggested that from the cipro I now have autoimmune disease. What test he did take came back negative, so he’d just kinda swept it under the rug. I was vaccinated for Covid without any severe reactions, and got covid and it was considered a mild case. Got a flu vaccination prior to this and had a terrible reaction. Now my Dr is encouraging me to get a flu shot along with a Shingles vaccine. Needless to say I’m some what reluctant to get them. He feels since i didn’t have a bad reaction to the covid vaccine , I’ll be okay with these other vaccines. Just looking for some input from another floxie.

hello excuse my english I’m Monica, from Colombia You will imagine how difficult it is to find solutions. I took 15 Cipro pills for 7 days 8 weeks ago for a suspected UTI that never seemed to exist. He didn’t know about his side effects so he finished all the treatment. A week later I had a muscle spasm in my back and from there the other symptoms appeared: – Generalized anxiety, electric sensations in the body, dry mouth, closed throat, no sweat, no tears, metallic taste on the tongue, tremors, myoclonic, joint pain, clicking in the joints, sensation of broken “threads” in the body, altered menstrual cycle, noises in the ears, etc. I feel that every part of my body that I exert is “punished” with pain the next day. I found someone Floxie in Argentina who sent me the link to this wonderful site. You have filled me with hope and I have tried to follow some of your recommendations. Thanks to you I knew that the NSAIDs were making me worse and I’m starting to take Magnesium, Vitamin C, N-acetylcysteine, Hydrolyzed Collagen, turmeric for pain and I’ve changed my diet; in a few days the ubiquinone and alpha lipoic acid will arrive. I have also been recommended Transfer Factor. Today I will do my first bath with Epsom Salts. Many symptoms are gone (I pray they don’t come back) but pain persists in back, hip and left leg, feels like my hip is coming off, joint noises, some brain fog. I would like to receive help. It is incredible that Latin America does not talk about this issue. I am sure that many affected have no idea what happened to them. You will already know that neither the doctors nor my friends believe me. Thanks I have my parents, I had to return home with them after 10 years. I’m about to lose my job. I am an economist and musician. A neurologist sent me an antibody test and it came back positive, but I know the autoimmune reaction is from the medication. Has it happened to you? He also ordered me one for lupus which of course came back negative. I have a lot of faith, sometimes fear but you are a relief for the pain. Thanks

I am going to share this before i lose the ability to think completely. Mild noise induced hearing loss and they give me cipro. I took 30 drops in 14 days and now my mind is melting. Severe brain fog, finding words is almost immposible, cognitive decline is insidiously steady, progressive and linear. After 12 days of stopping the drug this is how i feel. What conclusion can i make except i developed rapid dementia? Im only 33 but i guess this is what i will be famous for. I sincerely hope somebody went through a similar experience and came back alive.

Hi. I am new to this blog. I find myself so overwhelmed and scared. I used to be a very active runner and haven’t been able to move around much for two weeks. I have extreme tendon (ankles, arms, wrists, shoulders) and joint pain and numbness in my left foot. I have started supplements but wanted to reach out to see if anyone is seeing any special Dr. That can help. I am not even sure what type of doctor to see. I went to my normal Dr. And they said it is rare blah blah and it will go away in a few days. Such a lie! I am just very angry and feel like I a mourning a life I might not get back. Anywho. Hope you all take care and looking forward to some support/help.

Has anyone had trouble taking vitamin k2? I am concerned about taking it since it is a menaquinone and wondering if it is related to the quinolones.

Hi, Im wondering if Hydroxychloroquine can cause any problems like the Cipro did.
My doctor just prescribed it. I am concerned that it may cause similar response/problems. I have searched the internet for 2 hours. Reading and reading. Yet none of the websites or papers I read listed Hydroxychloroquine along with the Floroquinolones. But I recall something from over a year ago that I read that said they are related. Thank you for any info you have. I much appreciate it!

Wow coming back to this site after it was just getting started because I was floxed, and seeing so many more people coming here for help & famous people? Wow. Makes me want to cry. I was so young and scared and sometimes, when I feel pain in my joints at night I think of Cipro and what it did to me and just tonight the name “floxiehope” just popped into my head because in my scariest times I came here to be comforted by the admins. I still feel angry at the doctor who prescribed cipro to me for something so simple sometimes. I know I recovered, it took 2 months to actually feel normal again but sometimes I feel it linger in my body. In a sense, my body hasn’t been the same since then. Just wanna say thanks admins for getting me through that time and glad this site has reached so many people

Hi, I took cipro with nsaids in September after an operation and was not right neurologically after this but did not connect the dots and was given cipro with nsaids again in January when everything hit me very badly, now 4 months later suffering with multiple tendon pains unable to walk except around the house and very short distances, constant ringing in ears, eyes not right, brain not right and panic
Phillip. I am not sure when you were floxed?? But if has only been 2-3 months ago you are in the total acute phase and it can take many months to improve. I’m not trying to discourage you but give you hope that many of us improve dramatically over time but unfortunately patience and faith are the two main ingredients. Please don’t give up!!! You can do this!!! Keep the faith!!!

I was floxed 7 years ago and have had issues with my knee, my back, and various other parts of my body. But none as debilitating as what’s happening now, after all this time. I had a sinus infection and took amoxicillin, which has never bothered me before, except for a slight flare up. Last winter, I had a steroid shot for horrible bursitis pain in my arm after a flu shot. Last fall, I also took amoxicillin for a sinus infection (obviously, I have sinus issues, which is how I ended up taking levaquin in the first place.) Anyway, I now have extreme pain in my neck, shoulder, upper arms, hips, and the back of my legs and knees. I can barely walk in the morning. But I make myself move around and go outside and walk the dog twice a day. By the end of the day, I feel much better. But then the whole thing starts over again the next day. I doubled my magnesium, do Epsom salt foot soaks, and rub magnesium cream on my problem areas. Has anyone else had this experience, where you can barely walk in the morning but get better as the day goes on?

I was floxed 7 years ago but am just now having the worst flare-up ever. When I wake up in the morning, I can barely walk, my legs are so sore and stiff and my neck, shoulders, and upper arms are excruciatingly painful. By mid-afternoon (and a lot of walking around), I’m much better. Then the whole thing starts over again the next day. It’s like Groundhog Day, but not funny. Has anyone else had this?

I was floxed in June 2020. I had symptoms mostly on the right side of the body. I recovered in Feb 2021. and for about a year I did not have a singles issue but Feb this year I started having pain on the right side of my hand. and pain in my right leg is not going. I did not take any medicine and tried physiotherapy and acupuncture but none are working. the only issue is pain that too not debilitating but keeps me annoyed and makes me think. this time I do not have any neuro issues.

I am wondering if anyone has been diagnosed with Common Variable Immune Deficiency after being floxed? I had multi system involvement and with the help of a Functional Medicine MD have improved significantly with regard to neuro and GI issues. The mitochondrial injury is improving. I have been told the CVID cannot be reversed but I do not believe that. I am wondering if anyone else was given this post floxed diagnosis?
