Fluoroquinolones Surpass Vioxx and Thalidomide in Harm Done

In a May, 2014 letter to the U.S. Senate, Doctor Jay S. Cohen said of fluoroquinolones, “In my 40+ years in pharmacovigilance, FQs (fluoroquinolones) surpass Vioxx and Thalidomide in the degree of permanent harm done.” Let that sink in for a bit.

Fluoroquinolones – cipro/ciprofloxacin, levaquin/levofloxacin, avelox/moxifloxacin and floxin/ofloxacin – drugs that are seen as simple antibiotics (though they do severe cellular harm and are more appropriate for use as chemotherapy drugs), that are prescribed more than 20 million times per year in the U.S. alone – are doing more harm than Vioxx – a drug that led to more than 140,000 American heart attacks, and Thalidomide – a drug that has caused birth-defects and deaths of thousands of children world-wide.

Vioxx has been removed from the market, and the use of Thalidomide is severely restricted. Fluoroquinolones, on the other hand, are prescribed with abandon, despite the fact that hundreds of studies have shown that they do severe cellular damage and thousands of patients have filed reports with the FDA noting that a variety of severe health problems have been experienced after taking a fluoroquinolone.

Transgenerational Side-Effects

I have argued that fluoroquinolones have transgenerational ill effects and that children are suffering because of the epigenetic effects of fluoroquinolones (HERE and HERE). I have never hoped to be wrong about anything more than my assertions that fluoroquinolones are related to autism, but the possibility exists – because we really don’t know what the transgenerational effects of microbiome destruction and depletion of mitochondrial DNA are – and fluoroquinolones do, indeed, both obliterate the microbiome and deplete the only non-redundant form of DNA that we have – mitochondrial DNA. Well for goodness sake, no surprise for us folk:

For the many in the population, who also have an existing CYP1A2, CYP3A4 gene mutation in that detoxification pathway, Fluoroquinolones have proven to be extremely dangerous & life threatening. I am one of them.

Those individuals reach overdose levels rapidly. One tablet can and has set a cascade of destruction. Starting within 1-2 hours or 48 hours after ingestion. Seemingly unfathomable yet the occurrence is all too real. For others without the CYP1A2 , CYP3A4 genetic mutation, repeated exposure will ultimately damage the Cytochrome P450 Enzymes ability to detoxify other chemical exposures found in the environment, food supply, & medications. The deleterious impact on the body manifests slowly over time as inflammation & mitochondrial damages systems throughout the body. This speaks to why for many, their first exposure to Flouroquinolones appears to be without signs of an Adverse Drug Reaction. However the accumulative effect of repeated prescriptions is actually putting individuals at great risk for the systemic injuries described in the Black Box Warnings that have recently been issued in the last 3 years. Those Black Box warnings do not however include the injuries to the CNS, & gut etc.

The combined exposure of Glyphosate in the food supply & then Flouroquinlones given so casually for reoccurring minor infections is a powerful and detrimental cocktail. Glyphosate – Round Up – has been linked to Autism. I propose to you that these Flouroquinolone drugs are an additional known assault to the Cytochrome P450 Enzymes but with a quicker return of damage done, due to the additional mitochondrial DNA damage.

Gives an excellent case of how this Autism and other neurological diseases, are increasing in numbers due to these factors of the Cytochrome P450 Enzymes being suppressed or worse.

The need to avoid when possible: “Round Up” exposed food. Organic being the best option.

I didn’t either….except for my life.

This information puts a light on what is going on with the rise of health concerns for everybody! For about one day I thought I was uniquely unfortunate, until the evidence of a tsunami pandemic was going o for 20 years! ..This exposes the truth and Will contribute to applying pressure from the public onto the system that is behind all this crap.

We do have have Hope, The increasing focus on these issues, and helping each other, speaks to the very alive growing mass of people that is pushing and pushing to get this break through.

I have personally interfaced in person with over 800 people regarding this whole Flox thing…Surgeons, lawyers, MDs,…I’ve written to researches at MIT who corresponded back to me. i have given out a print out in stores that i buy groceries etc. every other day for the last 4 years, approximately 1,500 total. My neighborhood. Many of those people, thanked me and dodged a bullet, or their family did or it explained what the hell happened to a friend.
