This article puts SO MANY pieces of the FQ toxicity puzzle together, I had to share and keep it on this site. I didn’t write it, but the author did an AMAZING job at explaining the connections between fluoroquinolone antibiotics and thyroid problems, so I’m sharing it on Floxie Hope. Please share the article with your doctors. It has a lot of amazing, helpful information in it.
FLUOROQUINOLONE ANTIBIOTICS AND THYROID PROBLEMS: IS THERE A CONNECTION?
It’s published on Hormones Matter. Those hormonal systems do, indeed, matter. They’re so delicate and non-linear though, that they’re rarely studied. Not looking at them doesn’t make them inconsequential though.
What I have read is that the FQs are toxic to the thyroid and that they “reduce absorption of thyroid medications…and compete with iodine.” (medical detective site)
Good article, thanks????????

The connection of Fluoride/Fluorine to Thyroid issues is fairly well-documented, and there is a lot of information about it out there. Here is just one site:
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2015/03/10/water-fluoridation-thyroid-dysfunction.aspx
People often overlook the fact that this drug contains Fluorine
People also often do not know the Connection of Iodine, Thyroid and Fluoride/Fluorine, but there is information out there on that too. It is briefly mentioned in this article, and many other places too.
Quotes: “The key to a healthy thyroid is iodine, which is generally absorbed through the blood and stored and regulated by the body in the thyroid gland…
But because fluoride is more electronegative than iodine, it displaces it in the body, disrupting thyroid function and subsequently impacting hormone levels that keep metabolism in check. ”
There is also information out there that highly suggests Iodine can displace Fluoride as well, as more than one source mentions taking it increases output of Fluoride in the Urine, though not everyone is on board with this idea (surprise)
Iodine in my opinion was essential to my own detox plan and recovery from Fluoroquinolone Toxicity
Just to clarify the point Linda brought up. All sources of Fluoride, natural or not, are sources of FLUORINE. The same toxic crap that is in the Cipro drug. All sources of Fluoride are toxic and bad, due to the Fluorine.
I took a NSAID after being floxed and the symptoms of neuropathy came back with a vengeance! It took 2 weeks to subside! My question is will I ever be able to take them again.?they are the most effective for pain and I am wondering whether in a year or so I will be able to use them again.Or do they take you back to square one?
Secondly I have always taken Augmentin and had only good results but I have read on this site that Augmentin could produce the same symptoms as being floxed.Does this also apply for ever or will this be ok after a while?
Also is it possible that a floxie has damaged mitochondria and that the flowed person also has mitochondrial disease!
Please reply as to my earlier question about NSAIDs
