So should you be worried?
I know getting any medical treatment or vaccine can be worrisome because of the side effects. But is there a link between Fluoroquinolones and the Covid vaccine? Especially after suffering a reaction from the commonly prescribed Fluoroquinolone (FQ) antibiotics. Though feeling this way is normal however I want to look at some of the effects of vaccines and if they may cause a reaction in your body producing more side effects.
Before going into the details and the science I want to preface this article with a blanket statement that this is not medical advice or this blog article should not be used as a determining factor of whether you should or should not get any medical treatment. All I am trying to do here is give you some information to make an informed decision with all relevant information from your doctor and the CDC.
The Mast Cell Dilemma
If you have never heard of Mast Cell or do not know what it means, that is fine and I am going to explain what it is. Mast cells are cells found in connective tissue throughout our bodies as part of our immune system. Mast cells are particularly prominent in tissues of our bodies that interact with our dirty world outside the body, they are prominent in the lungs and digestive tract too. Mast cells can also be found in the organs and tissue of our circulatory and nervous systems. Mast cells play an important role in protecting our health by providing a line of defense against invaders and pathogens. Check out the blog article on Floxie Hope about it. See what they look like in the photo here.
First I want to discuss the reason why Mast Cells get triggered after FQ exposure. I understand that we can feel the effects of these drugs in our tendons, nerves and energy however our Mast Cells have a part to play here as well. Fluoroquinonlones cause immune reactions you may not know until its to late and here are a few reasons why. Drug‐induced allergies can be triggered by direct drug stimulation of mast cells or basophils, leading to the degranulation of mast cells and the release of active inflammatory mediators, such as histamine. Immune cells turn on in a time of stress and they are supposed to, that is how we are designed. The problem is when Mast Cells turn on and do not shut off, that is an issue.
From the Archives of Toxicology’s article, Differential response of mast cells separated from various organs and basophils of dogs to the fluoroquinolone antimicrobial levofloxacin, “Histamine releases induced by the fluoroquinolone antimicrobial levofloxacin (LVFX) were investigated using mast cells separated from various organs and peripheral basophils of dogs, being the most susceptible species to quinolone derivatives, in both in vivo and in vitro systems. (4)
Pfizer’s and Moderna’s Covid vaccines use lipid nanoparticle encapsulated technology. There has some mounting postulation and concerns that there may be a mechanism whereas these nanoparticles can incite an allergic reaction ie “Mast Cell” activation (1). At the moment there is study to determine if the vaccine itself or the delivery is causing reactions leaving those at risk for an anaphylactic type response from the Mast Cell degranulation. Did the FDA make these drug manufacturers study this or the downstream effects? How do these vaccines work with those affected by Mast Cell issues before taking the vaccine? That is the ultimate question right now and I feel strongly about getting studies on this topic.
The PEG issue
Polyethylene glycol, referred to as PEG, is used as an inactive ingredient in the pharmaceutical industry as a solvent, plasticizer, surfactant, ointments, and suppository base, and tablet and capsule lubricant. PEG has low toxicity with systemic absorption less than 0.5%. (2) Conjugation of polyethylene glycols (PEGs) to proteins or drug delivery nano-systems is a widely accepted use to increase the therapeutic bioavailability of nano-biopharmaceuticals. These drugs and nano agents are often immunogenic, triggering the rise of anti-drug antibodies (ADAs).
There are many studies showing an immune response to PEG. However there may be little know correlation to these vaccines and PEG initiating Mast Cell reaction. A recent study led by allergists at Massachusetts General Hospital notes that an FDA review between 2005 and 2017 showed an average of just four cases of PEG anaphylaxis per year. The Mass General study says there are many formulations of PEG, and the component used in the mRNA vaccines “is different from the PEG used most commonly in other health-care products.” For the moment the PEG additive concerns seem to show that there are only a number of reactions to this ingredient. Although there is no study showing a correlation of vaccine additives with Mast Cell issues taking either vaccine and seeing worsening Mast Cell issues.
ACAAI releases guidance related to risk of allergic reactions to Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine (3)
With the emergency use authorization of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine by the FDA on December 11, 2020, and distribution beginning today, the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force recommends the following guidance related to risk of an allergic reaction on vaccination for those who receive the vaccine. These recommendations are based on best knowledge to date but could change at any time, pending new information and further guidance from the FDA or CDC.
1.Allergic reactions to vaccines, in general, are rare with the incidence of anaphylaxis estimated at 1.31 in 1 million doses given.
2.Individuals with common allergies to medications, foods, inhalants, insects, and latex are no more likely than the general public to have an allergic reaction to the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Those patients should be informed of the benefits of the vaccine versus its risks.
3.The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine should be administered in a health care setting where anaphylaxis can be treated. All individuals must be observed for at least 20-30 minutes after injection to monitor for any adverse reaction. All anaphylactic reactions should be managed immediately, with epinephrine as the first line treatment.
4. The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine should not be administered to individuals with a known history of a severe allergic reaction to polyethylene glycol as it is a component of this vaccine that is known to cause anaphylaxis.
5. Data related to risk in individuals with a history of allergic reactions to previous vaccinations and/or mast cell activation syndrome/idiopathic anaphylaxis is very limited and evolving. A decision to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine should be undertaken by you with your physician or other provider administering the vaccine using their professional judgment balancing the benefits and risks associated with taking the vaccine.
6. The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is not a live vaccine and it can be administered to immunocompromised patients. Physicians and other providers should inform such immunocompromised patients of the possibility of a diminished immune response to the vaccine. We do not know at this time if people with a weakened immune system will respond to the vaccine and be protected from COVID-19.
7. If you have questions related to the risk of an allergic reaction to the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, contact your local board-certified allergist/immunologist
Floxing, autoimmunity and vaccines
Your gut is your life force for keeping your body at homeostasis. Why you ask? Well
your stomach holds your immune system and guess what, that’s important. Your body is actually more bacteria than anything else. The gut or microbiome gets distressed and out of balance after any antibiotic because they kill off good and bad bacteria. Your stomach homeostasis will be compromised leaving your body to have an autoimmune response in some cases. This is noted with cases of leaky gut and irritable bowl syndrome (IBS).
So after taking FQs is your immune system altered? This is a valid question and for many I think the answer is yes. Here is a study on the effects to the immune system Fluoroquinolones, which perform their bactericidal effect by inhibiting DNA gyrase (a type II topoisomerase) (5), are known to interfere with certain immune functions. (5) FQs can leave your body in an altered
immune state and without correction your body could be in an autoimmune state.
Could vaccines cause an autoimmune disease? The hard facts are still out to the jury however
here are some important facts to consider. (6)
Hepatitis B vaccine increases risk of multiple sclerosis. (There does appear, in theory, to be a plausible concern that the vaccine could react against the myelin in the brain and spinal cord; however, there is no evidence of an actual association.)
A specific type of influenza vaccine increases risk of Guillain-Barré syndrome. (There is good evidence for an association in this case, but only for a type of swine flu vaccine used in 1976-77.)
Use of many more pediatric vaccines has caused an increased risk of type 1 diabetes. (The balance of scientific evidence shows no relationship.)
If there is a link between specific vaccines and specific autoimmune disorders, the biological basis remains a mystery. There needs to be more epidemiological studies on the topic to decipher if vaccines cause autoimmune reactions after administration. All I can say is that after my exposure to FQs I have had autoimmune like symptoms for years and all of them misdiagnosed and misunderstood. However there is really no correlation or long term study on that issue either which does not mean the issue is not real.
My Final Thoughts
I truly understand the importance of keeping your body healthy now more than ever. My life has been a rabbit hole of treatments, supplements, and not-so-quick fixes to get my health in order. With mounting concerns about getting vaccinated, I have come up with my top concerns about the vaccine and my choice to get it or not to get it.
1. What is the long-term effects of mRNA and cells?
2. My FQ mast cell histamine issues and the possibility of a vaccine triggering that?
3. My autoimmune symptoms (mostly gut-related) and how the vaccine will affect that?
After reviewing hundreds of website data on the efficacy and the percentages of reactions they seem pretty safe on paper. That is great for the mass population that will take them to keep them safe from Covid or at least the current strain. That leaves me between a rock and a hard place though and a tough decision I am sure you also will have to make around the vaccine. Ultimately I will have to keep watching for peer-reviewed articles on the topic in hopes that a study will be done on those with underlying issues and the safety of vaccination. The choice is yours but please do your research and make sure to ask your doctor as many questions as you need to feel comfortable with whatever decision you make.
Please comment below with your thought and are you getting the vaccine if so which one?
For all those who are worried about having the vaccine please have a look at the blog of Dr David Grimes. He is a retired doctor in the north of England who has writen a lot about vitamin D. His recent blog posts deal almost exclusively with the prevention and treatment of Covid with vit D. Studies from around the world have shown that a low level of vit D correlates with much worse outcomes for Covid and some studies show that if your level is high you have less chance of catching it. There are also two studies done in Spanish hospitals showing that treatment of covid patients with Calcifediol ( a vit D analogue- it is this level in the blood that standard blood tests measure) has been very beneficial. All this is linked to and discussed by Dr Grimes. As floxies we should not be compromising our health further by being vit D deficient. I have found keeping my levels of vit D high helps me feel better in general. There is also similar stuff on Mercola about vit D though I have to confess that the stuff about the Great Reset has put me off his site a bit . I am very hesitant to be vaccinated as I have had bad reactions to flu shots since being floxxed. After a hip replacement in Dec I had a bad relapse after starting to feel as if my body was starting to recover a bit ( it’s too late for my cartilage and I am facing having the other hip done this year). I am very scared of having a further relapse . I am crossing my fingers for now and hoping my vit D level of 72 ng/ mL will protect me.
I’m trying to find my way around this site. I’ve posted there is no way I would ever take any of these experimental gene therapies, that are still in trials until 2023. I’ve really researched and informed myself this time, unlike when I was given cipro and trusted the Doctor. That trust landed me in a wheelchair and it’s taken me over 6 years to get some sembulance of my life back.
I am happy to post any link to back up my decision by other scientists, Doctors etc, the ones that as yet have not been censored.
You may find this interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPbxOeYAC7s
Well…I can report 1st shot of Moderna with no issues. Floxed in Aug 2019 and have recovered 80%.
Hi Jason,
Thanks for all your comprehensive research on the Covid vaccines in relation to floxies and for continuing this website. Your information has helped me with my research. Best wishes to you and your new family.
Thank you Jason. I think that even though we have frustrations about navigating the floxiehope web site we need to say a very sincere thank you to him for his dogged pursuit of good information about COVID-19. There is so much bogus information floating around that it is hard to differentiate between reliable information and the political chaff. Members of the floxiehope group are also finding and forwarding information that seems to be more truthful than the biased daily chaff. Does one take the risk of being stabbed and injected with “experimental” things? Not me!!!
Here is an amazing video from Reiner Fuellmich. Please try and take time to listen as it’s so important for HUMANITY.
It can allay those of you who are in fear of covid and tells the TRUTH about exactly whats happening. It also may help you with yoyr decision about the vaccines. https://budbromley.blog/2021/02/20/dr-reiner-fuellmich-on-the-corona-fraud-scandal/
Reporting on my Johnson and Johnson shot on April 9th. It’s been over a week now with no adverse effects. I had a slightly sore arm at the injection site for a day. I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I do take lots of magnesium, vitamin D3 and other supplements. I still have the same symptoms of numbness, tendon pain, etc. from taking Cipro over a year ago. I will be 78 on my next birthday and some days limp around but mainly I’m enduring and am hoping for the best. My husband, not a floxie, had major aches and pains after the J and J shot. Go figure. Everyone is so very different. I took a chance with the J and J shot but now feel that, after the month that you have to wait until the protection is total, I can have more freedom to interact with people. Will still wear the mask and gloves, of course, but will feel more confident. We don’t know, of course, what the future holds for these vaccines, but I took the leap.
Hi Friends, just want to report that I’m a week out from the J&J vaccine (I got it 2 days before they pulled it–great timing, huh?;) and I have not sensed any kind of flare up of my floxie symptoms as a result. I had flu-like symptoms the day after the shot but after about 48 hours felt pretty normal, a little tired. I’m a year and 1/2 out from being floxed by one single dose of cipro(I’m Greg the cyclist from Greg’s Story), and while I’ve been feeling 99.9% recovered for many months now, I still take my supplements and vitamins, in particular the magnesium, and maintain the diet that I started when my symptoms were bad. FWIW I boosted my mag intake a little before and keeping it going at that level after getting the shot just in case.
I feel my immune system is already very strong from my diet and lifestyle, but I think if the shot might help you avoid the hospital, then that extra protection is a good thing. I figured, I’ve spent over a year acquiring the tools to handle my floxie symptoms, so if it did cause a flare, it’s more of a known thing, as opposed to what a bad case of covid might do to me. I had very mild covid Feb 2020 and it was still the weirdest, most unsettling feeling ever, like nothing else I’ve ever had, and my case was minor. Lastly, I decided to get the J&J for the reasons many others have said—the more traditional vaccine seemed a little less experimental than the other two. Wasn’t an easy decision I admit – was a big leap of faith for someone who has no trust in Big Pharma. Anyhow, so far so good. Stay well everybody!
Barbara Arnold … You are correct about the propaganda etc. that is all over the news media and supported by governments. You are also correct when you discuss the problems that could arise with the “so called” vaccines.
One thing that seems to be being kind of soft peddled are the after effects of having the virus. Every day we are reading about serious and in some cases disabling things that are happening to people after they have successfully conquered the virus. Granted. By hyping these possible after effects it is promoting the acceptance of the “so called” vaccines. Please address these possibilities too.
I’m 72 years old. I was give IV of Cipro/Levaquin for an abscess. Within 4 days I could not see very well. My retina was damaged. I’ve been hit by cars while I’m standing still at stop signs, left turns etc 6 times. So my body was torqued and I have issues with my hip tilting and pinched sciatica. It’s all gotten much worse since the fluoroquinolones and periodically I would get these intense periods of pain that would come suddenly and disappear just as suddenly but usually I have years between them. I got the 2nd Pfizer vaccine 3/18 and since then I have had on and off intense pain, the latest lasting 3 days. (Ativan seems to help but of course it is addictive so one has to be careful). I’m hoping these incidents stop soon because they feel intolerable. If I knew this would happen I would not have gotten the vaccine.
Day 21 after getting the Johnson and Johnson vaccine and still no problems! I’m going to get out today and walk the three blocks to town and back without my cane! Before Cipro, a year ago last March, I used to lift weights, do extensive workouts with a CD and do accelerated walking. I hope to slowly build up my body. I have continued all this year to keep up my yoga routine, which I think has helped a lot. I’m so grateful for this site as I don’t think in this remote part of the West that there are any floxies around. I enjoy reading about your stories and your successes. Thank you!
The conjugate vaccine would be all right, not developed by the pharma industry and does not use mRNA technology. If you live in the USA you are SOL.
I’m disabled by cipro and just had the first Pfizer dose. Absolutely no ill effects so far, not even my arm hurts, so I am pleasantly surprised. I hope my good luck continues.
Mandy,
With respect how do you know that ” EVERYONE” IN Brazil is taking Ivermectin ? You post a source from the Washington Post ??? A MSM outlet. The MSM have from the start spewed PROPAGANDA on this sh.i show from the begining. 14 mnths of daily brainwashing from TV GOV MSM . People have been scared to death. Fearful people are easy to control. The source I gave you are from actual trials of Ivermectin and proof it does work.
Yes anything can cause a relapse in a floxie, thats a chance we all have to take on our road back to recovery. I owe NO ONE and I do not have to be grateful to ANYONE that other floxies are testing out the vaccines. That is a choice they have made. It’s useful if they are on here telling us their experiences with these experimental gene therapies, but as you said we are all different and some may have a re action and some may not. I thoroughly informed myself about the science of these experimental gene therapies and there is no way in hell I would take any of them. BUT thats MY CHOICE. I dont expect anyone to agree with me when they make THEIR CHOICE.
It’s taken me SIX AND A HALF YEARS to get most of my life back after cipro. Why in hell would I jeopardise that and play Russian Roulette with a synthetic experimental gene therapy , one of which is made by Pfizer, whose rap/violation sheet is disgustingly full of corruption, and lies, and who have paid out millions in compesation to the people they damaged. J&J , are the same. Astra zeneca have never made a jab before and already there are thousands of reports about blood clots and people dying. NO THANKS, especially when the recovery rate for covid is 99,8% as long as there are no underlying conditions. I’ve had covid and fully recovered. cases are NOT DEATHS.
I will continue to try and source Ivermectin and if I was unfortunate enough to get covid again, I’d use that.
“Ask your doctor”. “Discuss it with your doctor”. What do you do when your doctor is 110% for the vaccines? Can you expect to get a coherent unbiased discussion? Don’t tell me to find another doctor because when you are in an HMO you must designate a doctor as your primary care doctor before you can see him/her. A doctor “pre interview” is not allowed.
I had a JJ shot 4 weeks ago. Actually my family made me take it. Fortunately I didn’t have serious side effects (for now).
I’ve chosen it over Pfizer and Moderna as it’s not mRNA, and over AZ as it’s only one shot.
The side effects I had was high temperature (almost 40 Celcius so 3 deg higher than your normal body temperature), head pain, muscle pain, joint pain, the shivers, and arm pain. All these for 3 days.
I also took 1 pill of paracetamol (Tyrenol) for the high temperature, but as my liver CYP-450 is damaged after Cipro, it gave me severe liver aches.
Fortunately after 3 days I was back to “normal”. I mean, the floxie “normal state” (9 months out), so I still cannot walk more than a few minutes, have severe tendinosis/tendinitis, low energy, vision problems, concentration problems. But it didn’t got worsened.
I’m not recommending you to take the vaccine though; I took mine because I have asthma and wanted to avoid Covid and also as I said my family actually forced me into taking the vaccine. If you’re 100% healthy and your relatives too, your situation may be different.
If a multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical company won’t assume any liability or risk associated with their ‘ safe’ vaccine product, why in the hell would I or anyone else? I think it is absolutely reckless and immoral that the US gov’t would allow and promote this vaccine or any drug with the signed permission of uninformed patients. I’ve known of 3 almost lethal cases of vaccine adverse effects in my area and every single one of those patients now has at least one million dollars in medical bills that can’t possibly be paid for in their lifetime. BTW, their symptoms didn’t show up until at least 30 days after receiving vaccine. Talk about stress!! Of course the gov’t and big pharma know that these patients will rely on assistance from Go Fund Me and other advocacy groups but one must also consider the cost of the long-term damage that shortens their lives. In the meantime, the big fat cat pharma pharaohs will rake in their billions with no liability whatsoever. Commonsense dictates for me that given that no one knows the long term consequences of the vaccine, I’m simply not willing to gamble- especially since I’ve been harmed by FDA approved safe medications in the past. I’m a biologist, not a gambler.
I had SARS in 2003 and almost died- not because of the SARS even though that was serious enough but because I had been given Tequin ( a banned fluoroquinolone) AND corticosteroids- not a safe combination. I wrote about my experience on Medscape years ago which included going into a hypoglycemic coma. It took me about a year to recover from that illness and the Tequin damage but I’ve had a lot of tissue damage since then. I also got Lyme disease in 2015 and learned that fluoroquinolones produce many of the same symptoms as Lyme because the bacteria damages the cells in much the same ways. I now have intermittent symptoms of myasthenia gravis, MS and ALS.
I purchased Ivermectin and know that it works. Quercetin and zinc in combination also work. It’s common knowledge among wildlife rehabbers that Ivermectin kills everything. Quercetin and zinc work by preventing the virus from docking on the ace2 receptor.
I would highly recommend that everyone educate themselves by watching videos with Dr. Mercola, Bret Weinstein (Dark Horse Podcast) and Heather Heying. They are scientists committed to questioning what we’re being told and seeking the truth. I trust them- not CDC, FDA or NIH.
Your call but why go with experimental vaccines when there is a once a week pill that can be used as a prophylaxis that has been around for 40 years? IVERMECTIN Ivermectin was originally developed as a parasite killer. It has been used world wide and there have been 4 billion doses of it. It is approved by our own FDA for parasites and can be used off label like 30% of the drugs are now. Is it safe?
I would say so. https://covid19criticalcare.com/ for more information. Read it!!!
This,is a test to,see if responding to no,one at the bottom of the page puts your post at the top of the page. If it does and we all do that maybe we can the the functionality of the old blog back.
Are any floxies using Ivermectin as a prophylactic? If so what is your experience so far?
